A great day for the whole family, this is a tailor made adventure playground set in the grounds of a magnificent country house hotel, the great Matfen Hall, set in the Northumberland countryside. There’s a great tree top adventure, that includes zip wires and high ropes. You and the family can enjoy the breath-taking scenery while having great fun tackling the crossings and jumping off the swings.
Whickham Thorns is an Outdoor Activity Centre with many activities you can indulge in, either for the first time, or as an experienced player. You can have a bash at archery, an assault course, climbing (an indoor climbing wall), high ropes, orienteering, skiing, and sledging & tubing.
There are club memberships available where you can learn these activities, and you can find out their prices by contacting them directly. Whickham Thorns also have themed parties including pool, football, trampolining, and gymnastics, skiing and sledging and many, many more.
If you want to get around by bike, then you can go to the Cycle Hub, a place where cycling is encouraged, and you can hire bikes and visit their bike and repair shop, or their café, if you feel like giving yourself 5 minutes to relax before leaving. You’ll also find all relevant up-to-the-minute cycling information, as well as information on cycle training, local clubs and transfer services. You’ll find the Cycle Hub near the River Tyne and it makes for a great family outing for those who love their bikes.
A family activity for combat with a volley of laser fire that is great fun for young and older players. You can play with just 2 in the team or up to a team of 26 players.
A surfing machine in North of Bedford with wave effect, that allows people the opportunity to surf and body board, under the supervision of trained professionals. This is in High Lanes opposite Heworth Grange School.
Waves offers great pool facilities with its own wave machine, aquatic play features, a pirate ship, mini slides and water geysers on the ship itself, with a tipping water treasure chest and in the play area, some squirting water animals.
There’s a toddler area with toys and you can hire the pool for parties, there’s also a spa with pool, foot spa, ice bucket shower, hydrotherapy bath facilities and a sauna.
A bowling alley in North Shields for all the family, where you can play in twos and threes, or have a team as big as you wish. The MFA have pools tables and an amusement arcade too, with a place to eat. You can bring your family here for a fun and relaxing game, or you can hold your children’s birthday parties here too. A great day out that excludes no one.
An indoor climbing venue that covers both the north east and Tyneside for both novice and more experienced climbers. There’s facilities here for both roped climbing and bouldering, and the standard of the 1200 sq. of climbing offers a reasonable challenge to both novices and expert climbers alike.
A stables with group lessons at levels 1 to 5. There’s a variety of ways of learning to ride with both jumping and combined lessons. There’s also private lessons available indoors and outdoors, and riders learn both flat work and jumping in the both group and private lessons. The stables also has its own pony club which is held every Wednesday. There’s also a small café, open from Tuesdays to Sundays, it’s a place to relax and unwind after a day’s riding.
